Fresh pasta on one ring and fresh pasta sauce on the other, a quick meal in minutes Sausages, smash and beans is another. In fact, Smash is excellent all round when camping! Lots of other recipes but it's too late for me to think lol. I believe there's a section on this site dedicated to camping recipes, try looking under Features/Tips, I think it's there somewhere.

spag bol, freeze at home and  just warm up , cook pasta fresh.

chilli and rice, with wraps warmed in frying pan.

bangers n mash

super noodles n hot dogs (kids favourite)

tin of stewed steak, peas, carrots , oxo cube, and smash or tinned potatoes.

corned beef, beans, fried onions, with  crusty loaf .

Tuna and pasta, cucumber , tomatoes, onions finely diced and covered in mayonnaise

You can cook a large frozen pizza, defrosted,  in a big frying pan, either on the barbecue or gas ring, cover with foil, cook for 10mins on one side, then turn and cook the other side until thouroghly hot. Tried it this weekend on bbq.

Always estimate twice as long for food to cook on a camping cooker than it does at home.

These toasters are great,  quicker than an electric  pop up toaster. put the toaster on the gas ring , the bread sits on the top, and takes about 20 seconds to cook, flip it over and do the other side.

If you cook boiled new potatoes, do them in advance, cut them small so they cook faster, and  when almost done, keep the lid on, and just warm up when needed. Toss in garlic butter as a great accompaniment to bbq .

depends on your own tastes, but I love the simple local  foods from the area's that we visit. try the butchers, bakers, fishmongers etc. ask them there recommends.

we have the chance when camping to try whats on offer around our Isle (Rick Stein) is a good example. it can become a great part of your holiday to find these places, even using the web before hand is exciting. finding award winning suppliers of quality foods.

don't be limited by your cooker! easy enough to also use a once BBQ (stick the used charcoal in the hedge after it's a good long term plant feed.)

buy the local Bacon/eggs etc a lot fresher than the stuff we normaly transport from our local S/M.

so say for instance, you do for your evening meal some top class local steaks on the BBQ.along with fresh salad (and new potatoes! 1 ring on cooker) local fresh crusty bread with butter. kettle on other ring for a brew after

keep it simple fresh and local.

Good morning everyone.

Beefsmum:  I have just bought 2 of these http://www.yeomansoutdoors.co.uk/products.asp?partno=611257 and I (the kids) did 8 rounds for my 3 grandchildren on breakfast table on 2 little SunnGas portable stoves and they worked  ... GREAT!  Gave the kids a pair of tongs each which they used to turn the bread.  I watched them cook their own toast and butter them in front of me.  The fascination in their eyes was a delight to behold.

Definitely a gismo to take on camp.

Eric.

Smash pasta and rice are all quick and yummy and dont have to be boring. With a little added Road Kill such has Foxes , Hedghogs , Rabbits, Magpies and the like you can knock up meals that would break the bank if bought from your local chinese take away

I have a little steamer tray that goes on the top of the pan which cooks broccoli and cauliflower on top of potatoes which means that I am only using 1 cooker ring to cook all of the veg and a disposable BBQ for the meat. If the weather is not good enough to have a BBQ I just use a griddle pan for the meat - cook the veg first and it keeps warm in the pan till the meat is done. I only have a single gas ring but there are only 2 of us and we eat pretty much the same as at home. I also cook garlic bread slices in the griddle pan, fresh pasta in a pan which keeps warm in a covered dish while I heat up a fresh pasta sauce in the same pan. I only take 1 pan, 1 steamer and 1 griddle pan - less washing up too

Thanks everybody for the suggestions and link to the recipies.

Definitely have to try out the local wild life.

I presume we would need a rifle and some sort of roasting spit to cook them !!!

Thanks.

Eddie.

At first when we started camping I used a wok for almost all the cooking.with a little inventiveness’ I have made curries rustic soup paellas all sorts and one ring, but now thanks to my trusty Caddac chef its so much easier, with the 4 in 1 cooking systems we can grill/ bake /roast griddle and bbq, we can camp for 14 nights just using the caddac and never eat the same meal twice.if you have got room in the car or trailer I can highly recommend the £100 outlay

Hi all.
Salisbury's do a range of long life foods that you just remove from the box and sealed packet and cook you don't require oil or anything to cook them and they are very nice
and keep for months out of the fridge.
Check the out.
Rex.
