Hello everyone,

We are planning going away camping again next weekend and I've been looking at buying a tent carpet to protect our SIG and give a bit of underfoot comfort. I wondered if anyone would give advice on what to go for?

Our tent is a Wynnster saturn 9, and I see wynnster do a 3x2 tent carpet for about £40. Can anyone comment on the quality of this? This size would be slighty smaller than our living area but the next size (3x3), I think would be curling up the sides of the sig.

Also should we buy a ground sheet for under our tent? Last time we went camping the SIG was spotless except it was a bit sweaty where we had put a smallish piece of plastic under porch area to protect from all walking in & out. As it was we wouldnt need to take it out to dry once we got home, but if we had put plastic under whole tent, then it definately would of needed drying off. Is there an easy solution?

I could sit and ask questions all day long, this forum is SO good and excellent, informative reading!

You can get breathable groundsheet now from most big camping shops which may do the trick. We are thinking of getting some as the footprint for ours just seems to collect water. We are also hoping it will let the grass breath a bit. We used to pull the groundsheet up every day before we went out on the old tent but as we have now got a ZIG I fear we would never get it zipped up again if we did that.
Carpets are a good idea - we have got one for our Bear Lake as we have damaged two groundsheets in other tents and they are lovely to step onto in the morning. I wouldn't worry if it climbs the walls a bit, so long as it stays on the SIG and doesn't trip you up.

Cheers

Alasdair

Hi

We have the same tent as you, we were going to buy a carpet instead we bought picnic blankets with a backing from b & M bargains which were £2.99 each, we then bought a blue tarpolin from B & Q.

Hope this helps

Debbie

We have an outwell capet which fits spot on in our Khyam XXL Classic and it's great I can really recommend them, warm, comfy easy to clean. Ours was in sale for 19 squid at xmas. I just measured our living area and found one to fit as I didn't want the blue Khyam one, plus i thought was expensive.
