Earlier in the year we booked a week in July at the C&CC Weston Super Mare paying a deposit of £30+We have changed our plans and will no longer be going so far south.I called the C&CC to cancel, fully expecting to loose the deposit however I was pleasantly surprised to find out that although I had paid the deposit it was credited to my C&CC account to be used for any further booking within the next 12 months.I think that that is fantastic and it certainly was not expected, this is our first year with the C&CC but this kind gesture has already ensured that we will continue our membership, has anyone else had this sort of experience when cancelling ?

Thats good! unfortunately in my experience caravaners can be very stiff and unfriendly. But its great to see their group are being reasonable.
Have you got the C&CC and the CC confused?
The C&CC is the camping and caravan club and started out as the Association of Cycle Campers over 100 years and since then has grown with caravans becoming included in the 1930s. We are members and on the whole we have found both tenters and carvanners friendly.
I think all the grumpy up their backside caravanners are in the CC - Caravan Club. I know if I had a caravan I would not join the CC, especially after the experince we had with one of their snotty representatives at the NEC show in February. Having said that I am sure many of their general members are just ordinary folk enjoying their holidays and breaks.

Hi
Yes this is their policy if you cancel a booking upto 8 days before the start. After that I think it is lost which is fair enough.
We have had money in our holding account twice when checking into a campsite and on both occasions the system showed the credit and it was taken off our fees without us having to request it.
Make sure you get a 'passport' and get it stamped to earn your free nights as well, another example of their great customer care.

Customer care? It's a form of loyalty card to get us to use C&CC sites.

Oh Bernie ... you old cynic you
I guess in one sense it is. However if they didn't have this system it wouldn't make any difference to me if I used one of their sites or not, it is just an added bonus. We mainly use C&CC sites because we know we can expect good standards and what the prices/rules etc are beforehand.
Likewise we are going to Yorkshire in the summer where there are 3 C&CC sites in reasonable proximity to where we want to be, but we have chosen a private site because on the whole it fits our requirements better. The lure of 24 stamps in my passport isn't enough to make us go to one of the C&CC sites instead.
