Hi everyone. I am looking for a new tent and wondered if anyone could make suggestions?

It has to be at least 2 bedrooms with large living space.(2 adults and a teenager but we like space)

SIG or ZIG (spiders are such a no no !)

Maximum budget around 200

Not too difficult to pitch,(Impatient husband lol)

Large as possible to fit on normal pitch so we dont have to pay double rates due to size. (not scrooge but why pay double)

Is this wishlist possible without buying an unreliable, leaking, bad  quality thing that will last less than a week?

Thanks in advance

Angie.

Hi AngelicMinx.
Welcome to the forum.
Tents are like all manufactured products, and the more you pay the better made and more secure the tent is.
And from what your requirements are then I would recommend you visit a supplies tent display, and look at what you would like to live in and that is what you do, this is the reason for getting the best quality one you can afford, the last thing you want is it to leak when the rain is constant
or blow down when the wind get rough, and you will normally experience one of these in a season.
What you require is a tunnel tent with a extension porch that can be removed if very windy, and from what owners on these pages seem to prefer and recommend in strong wind are the Outwell seres of tunnel tents. and the light weight ones can be bought second hand or look out for a deal.
I am sure a few owners will recommend to you what they use
and why.
Best of luck with your camping, don't be afraid to ask any question you want to get a sensible answer from someone who knows, on camping
All the best
Rex.
PS the reason I recommended tunnel tents they are easy to erect and are accepted on most sites were dig dome pod tents are not.

Angie,

Whilst being new to the whole camping lark, I am a bit of an anorak when it comes to bargains. I bring a whole new meaning to "sad" if you get me started on Tesco clubpoints or saving money....

Go and have a look at tents that have been pitched, and wander around inside them. its so much better than looking at pics. Choose which one or two you like and then go internet shopping. Try several search engines, as you will get different results.

If you then go back to your local place and ask them to price match the internet site. Most places will if you ask nicely. If you are shy, give them a call and ask them. Milletts even offered to order me in a tent and then price match. Its good to buy locally as you can also get any probs sorted face to face, which is easier than doing it via tinterweb.

We have just settled on an Outwell Nevada XL for £229 with free carpet from Winfields. There was nowhere locally that stocked them. Its a "last years" model, but I asked another company what the differences were, and they said that there aren't any! The Vango Albany 800 is £199, 2 bedrooms and SIG.

Good luck, happy hunting, Rich

Rex, you sure seem to know what you are talking about here. Shall we call you the master? lol

I have seen some Outwells and very nice they are too but are probably a little more than I can afford at the moment. Taking into consideration the cost of the other camping stuff, it is not cheap setting up a decent outfit but cheap rubbish is not an option.

The Royal Biaaritz looks great but has it got a SIG?

Also checking out Vango, Sunncamp, Coleman and Khyam. There are some bargains if you dont mind last years model but I dont mind that.

I will keep checking on here and looking on the internet but the more I look the more choice I have hence the more confused I become lol.

Thanks again

Angie

Hi There

We have bought the Outwell Minnesota 4 earlier this year for £160 (demo model) plus the front extension which we found for £75 and can strongly recommend them..

But I would echo the advice above and go and look at any tent you are interested in as you can see how much or little room you have and then search the internet etc for the best price you can get

R’s

Ian
