mozzy coils, burn for 8 hours, these worked best for us last year in the highlands. Just light 1 as soon as you get up, hung just outside my tent, also used it in the kitchen tent fisrt thing in the morning. I tried loads of different things as i have a allergy to insect bites, so needed to be prepared. If I went to the highlands again, i wouldn't be without them.
I usually set up an anti midgie perimeter forcefield. i surround the area I am sitting in with citronella lights and they don't cross the barrier. Trust me it works.
did the marmite thing this trip though, ate it every day for a fortnight and every day while we were away, not sure if its a bite free year or whether the marmite worked.
I'm looking to go camping in Scotland just with hammock & tarp hopefuly up by loch lomond, isle of skye or somewhere in that region maybe & was wondering if anyone could give me a few tips on where to go, where your allowed to go etc. Just two of us & planning to have a wander about a bit as well. Any suggestions would be appreciatted.
I stayed at a site at Edinbane. It is a small privately owned site on the shores of a sealoch. Basic but clean and tidy and it was within walking distance of the local shop and pub.
