hi there is a formula to working it out which i cant find at the mo but i`m sure someone will be along in a minute but if you are on a site with 10 amp connection you can use 2,300 watts/ 16 amp connection 3,600 watts so if you think of a normal house bulb is average 60 watts, you will be fine. you will find that the biggest usage of watts are generally anything that heats up like heater, kettle and hairdryer and most of these items will tell you how much wattage they use e.g 2kw heater = 2,000 watts, hope this helps.

Rule of thumb is only one heating-type appliance (heater, hairdryer, cooking ring, kettle, microwave, Foreman grill etc) on at once. The little itty bitty things like chargers can be all put on at once.
It depends on wattage of the kettle and the size of the site's supply.
Some modern domestic kettles draw as much as 3 Kw, some sites have only a 10 amp supply (very rarely in the Uk but common over the channel only 6 amp).
Check the kettle - usually a sticker on the bottom - 2,000 - 2,300 watts should be ok on most sites, but don't plug anything else in at the same time if it's only a 10 amp site. If it says it's a fast boil one don't take it.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
I take my kettle and remove the fan heater to use it. DVD's chargers etc are fine to run whilst kettle or heater is on. Three cheers for the EHU, beats waiting three days for the gas kettle to boil, if it ever gets there!
yes that would be fine but if you are on a 10amp site it only leaves you approx 100 watts, so be careful of anything else you are using at the same time. again take into account that the average household bulb is 60 watt.

forgot to say that if you are on a 16amp site, then crack on as you will have approx 1400watts of power left as long as you are not using a heater as well you will get away with almost anything else tv, video, mobile charger etc.

i always ask the site owners, 6 amps is not a lot at all. considering it was a very faded label are you sure it was`nt 16amps as this would be the norm. if i was paying for ehu and found out i only had 6amps i think i would ask for my money back. that is only giving you approx 1,300 watts not even enough to run a small heater.

4 position rotary switch: off/fan/low(1000w) or high (2000w).
Fan blow facility.
Variable thermostat with thermostatic temperature control.
Frost protection.
Safety cut out function.
Size (H)24.3, (W)19.8, (L)20cm.
I had it on the high (2000w) setting and it worked for about 20 minutes then tripped my ehu, just the individual plug not my whole unit and not the site post. I really dont know anythig about these except that I have to be careful, but couldn;t work out what I had done wrong? I had nothing else plugged in at the time? I reset the trip switch, set the heater to the low setting and it went happily for hours. Can anyone explain what happened? I'd like to know so I can understand the EHU better.
Thanks in advance
Donna
