great little heater and the gas seems to last a long time ,,plenty of heat from it just to take them cool nights away

We use a small fan heater with thermostat control and safety cut out. It also has a cool blow function if the weather gets REALLY hot (never had to use it though!)

We use the 1kw setting and set the temperature control at about 1/2 and this is more than enough to heat our Khyam Ontario 8.

SUITABILITY

Outdoor use in a well ventilated area

To each their own but be careful with gas in a tent as when you are warming it up you have the zips closed otherwise its pointless.

even after being at fforest fields in wales for 2 weeks where at night outside the tent it was so cold you could see your breath, i still don't see the need for a heater in a tent! surely a heater can't keep a tent warm for long?
if you want to keep warm, make a fire outside if allowed or use your barbecue, wear warm clothes and if you have a decent sleeping bag, you should never be cold at night (especially if you wear socks). i have three young kids and they were never cold at night.

I've got an Outwell Heater and it's the best! Safest you can use in a tent. Go outdoors also have the halogen heaters which are safe too. Gas heaters are NOT SAFE in a tent. They produce harmful gases and are dangerous if left on overnight. The Outwell heater has a thermostat that will switch on and off to keep your tent warm all night - but you do need EHU with them!

We had one in a monty 6, more than 3 feet from it you were freezing, completely hopeless, took it back to GO for a refund.

i've used all kinds of heaters from a halogen heater to a fan heater,i have now come into possession of a couple of small oil filled radiators,apparently there really good but i have yet to try them out.

gas heaters were safer in tents of old.

but today many tents have sewn in or zipped in groundsheets - and closeable vents.

the problem here is with people in the tent and the gas heater burning, the oxygen levels in the tent are being depleted.

there comes a point when the flame begins to burn incompletely and then the real danger comes with gas heaters - they will begin to produce Carbon Monoxide fumes.

you cannot see, smell or sense them.

you quickly begin to lose consciouness and go into a deep sleep. if your discovered in time, you might survive the carbon monoxide poisoning. however you are likely to suffer brain damage.

carbon monoxide is inhaled into your lungs, it then interferes with the bloods ability to carry oxygen to the brain. brain damage quickly occurs followed shortly by death.

it happens every year on a campsite somewhere.

people dont realise / understand the chemistry and the dangers of using open flame appliances inside tents which are becoming more and more sealed off to the fresh air outside.

electric is safer, cleaner and also has the added benefit of being a dry heat.

gas also gives off a lot of water vapour - makes the inside of the tent and everything in it -damp.

be careful everyone of gas - and please warn others - its amazing how many people dont realise the dangers of gas in a small space with limited ventilation.
