I hope all those who were 'umming' and 'awing' about camping this weekend 'ummed' rather than 'awed'. Nasty weather coming in tomorrow - rare 'summer' gales. Se here....
We've got a tent up in our garden, and we are bang on the Irish Sea coast. The Mersey is a few minutes walk away. When I was a kid it came to the bottom of my parents road, which is literally around the corner. My little fella is camping with the cubs this weekend. Hope that they are still having fun despite the weather. The activities that were planned for the weekend looked fab.
Was heading north on the bike with the tent on Monday but change of plan; South seems ok. Only got a couple of days off work so I'm going no matter what; lol. I figure if I don't get blown off the bike on a motorway then the tent will hold out, and if I do get blown off the bike I aplogise now to anyone caught in the resulting traffic jam.
We went this weekend, near the dales/ Cumbria area - BIG mistake!
Friday night was great - not a clouds in the sky , Saturday morning it was torrential driving rain with gale forces - not much fun for our kids - we stayed till about 7.30 last night and then just ended up leaving the tent and checking to a hotel....
At least we know we did the right thing as when we went back for tent this morning - there were 2 others tents and they said it had been atrocious...
we ummed too - i am glad because i have spent all day putting my garden back together throught the winds, but everytime i tie something down, something else disappears! i'm sure there were 3 birdfeeders in my tree yesterday....!
It's really really gusty in Bristol today - beautiful blue sky but incredibly windy. I've been washing and drying groundsheets and have hand to tie them down as I was in danger of flying away with them!
Hey Gemma-lu.... going off-topic here but I noticed your Ticker tape count down to your civil partnership. We went to a civil partnership yesterday (first one we have been invited to) and despite the wet and windy weather it was a truly lovely event; it was so good to see my friend happy ( after some earlier relationship disasters in her life) and I hope you have a truly memorable day too (for all the right reasons!)

aaaaawwwwwww, thank you! getting a bit nervous now i must admit! Glad your friend had a wonderful day.
We went to Carnoustie the weather picked up some through the night last night, folding camper was rocking a bit but all in all it was okay, torrential rain most of the night and this morning.....
Romany - "over stated weather forecast"! Just look at the posts on this site about the weather this weekend! Locally we had uprooted trees, trashed greenhouses, grapevines ripped to bits, our neighbours shed de-roofed - our lane looked like a war-zone at 13:00. And we live in a very exposed area so we are used to the weather.
------------- Hotels Suck. Villas are great but I can't take my Cadac on the plane....
I have just got back from driving down to london and back today - felt really sorry for anybody towing the wind was blowing my car all over the place - dread to think what it would have been like in a tent
we were one of the families who went away this weekend (unaware of the weather forecast). Our Rage Vargo 10 withstood the torrential rain of Saturday without a drip and then got through the horrendous high winds. Then as we were taking it down on Sunday my son tripped over one of the guy ropes and the wind got under the tent and snapped two of the poles in half. Absolutely gutted and have had to order a new tent tonight as have another camping holiday booked for a week on friday. Please all no rain dances just sunny weather hoped for please ha ha
well,it is 2.00 am in the morning here in north wales, and the gales are still blowing strongly.they have been blowing away all day,on the north coastal section.the gales were suppose to have blown themselves out by 12 midday today, sunday, but they have not.i would be a bit wary of camping in north wales over the next day or two, incase it continues.
