It certainly is - I live not far from Eastbourne, and it's fantastic today - glorious blue sky and just enough breeze to stop it getting too hot. I've just driven back from the coast over the downs and the visibility is fantastic.

 

Sadly, I now have to go back to work!

We were away at the weekend near Chester...woke up yesterday morning to a right old racket. Our tent was fine but few of the others on site were flapping and bending all over the place. The windbreak we had up had been blown down but no damage.

It was interesting taking the tent down to say the least but managed to get it in the bag without turing into a hang glider..!

The awning on the caravan next to us had blown open in the night and the front look close to caving in with the wind.

After all the rain on Saturday was glad that the wind dried the tent out...!

Double peg all of your guy ropes by putting two pegs in crossing each other (I've used three in the past when it was really windy!).   Add guys where you can(cling-on's are useful for this if you have them?) and keep an eye on everything, the risk is that you lose a guy and that allows the tent to distort which will snap poles.

We were camping in Cornwall last week when our EasyCamp Salerno was hit by 50mph gusts straight off the sea - not funny at all!

The tent was flat to the floor on a few occasions but the main problem was the guy ropes fraying and snapping where they were looped around the storm pegs. We finally managed to get the tent down in horrendous conditions and head for a hotel.

We're now looking at an Outwell Montana 6 and Delta Ground Anchors to make sure that the same thing doesn't happen again. One question though, does anyone add plastic sleeves to there guy ropes to prevent fraying?
