Just wanted to share something with Outwell Montana owners...

If  you  were thinking of buying either an full (covered) extension or a canopy extension and can't quite make your minds up - we used our new extension (full covered) for the first time this weekend -

We camped this week and it was torrential rain (another story!) but we (2 adults & 2 kids)  did actually manage to cook and sit under this from morning till about 7.30pm (till the rain became torrential and the wind upgraded to gale force!)
You still get that 'outdoor' feel but are sheltered from the elements...we couldn't have managed without it..am sure some people will prefer the 'canopy' but for us, this gave the best shelter without feeling too enclosed.

A real good investment.

Will post pics sometime this week...

We bought the extension with the tent so wouldn't know what it's like without and I don't wish to find out either. :D

Can't agree with you more - our extension is exactly what we expected to be and we get out of it exactly what we wanted to.

We have spent many a rainy day under the extension cooking, eating our evening meal, doing crosswords etc.

Really pleased with it and I'm sure if anybody decided to purchase this would be really happy with it.

I am thinking of getting the extension to go onto my Coleman Cedar Creek tent as the size of the minnesota 4 are very similar ( only a few cm's difference ) could anybody tell me how it attaches to the tent so that I can try to work out if I could somehow attach it to mine  does it have a bit that goes over the top of the tent ? or is it free standing with guy ropes ?

Thanks xoopsx

It goes over the tent and attaches to the middle lot of poles, it can't stand on it's own.

I couldn't go camping without mine now!!, great to cook and sit in, come sunshine or rain!!.

Thanks Kirsty

hmmmm well might be a problem then as the centre pole on my tent is on the inside

I was thinking that I might be able to attach it to the poles at the front sides of my tent with velcro and put longer ropes on the bit that goes over the top so that I could attach it to the back poles of my tent. This is a link to a pic of my tent to give an idea of what I was thinking - would appreciate any advice

Can't wait to get one though, Wenpip it looks great on your pic and a real bonus in bad weather.

Hi folks

We have just brought a Monty 6 with the canopy extension and are due to go off a week tomorrow for our first ever camping trip.  We brought the extension canopy with it for all the reasons you have posted.  We liked the idea that we could use it as a sun shade, gave us extra room, and could sit in it when it was raining and because of the size it would keep the rain from coming into the main part of the tent.

Although we haven't tried it yet we are sure it will be brilliant and thankfully all your posts here make us feel that we have made a good choice.

Happy camping everyone and watch out for us a week Friday 4 July - Norfolk here we come !!!!!!

Bob n Chris

Hi all,

We have just bought a Monty 6 and do like the look of the canopy. Maybe next purchase (or maybe the carpet!). Are there any problems with pitch sizes using the canopy?
Might be a stupid question but we are camping virgins just getting ready for our first outing this weekend (fingers crossed for weather)

Hi we just stayed at a c&cc site with a montana  6 and extension with no problems, they seem to be more concerned with the width of the tent.p.s we loved the club site and cant wait to go back.
