Hiya

We're into our second year of using our Vermont, we went away a few weeks ago in the school holidays and it poured down, we had a fair amount of water inside the tent around the sleeping area, but we put that down to water leaking in when the door was unzipped for us to go in and out and being on a slight slope the rain water had puddled in that area.

We've just come back from another wet/windy trip to Barley Meadow Camp Site (great site), this time we bought the Outwell Side Extension, mainly to prevent the rain problem from leaking in, firstly it was a bugger to put on, still unsure as to whether we had it on right, it didn't look right and tying it down seemed impossible, anyway, we still had leakage.

I know there is threads on here somewhere about leakage but I can't track them down - can anyone point me in the right direction?  And does anyone have any tips for the side extension?

many thanks

We had the Xl - no problems with leaking but noticed when we put a heater on there was some condensation which accumulated and dripped, particularly at the side of the bedrooms if it was left on for long enough.

With regard to the side extension, we too found a problem with the three leads which go over the top of the tent.  It was very difficult to ascertain where to hitch the middle one too and eventually the only way was for it to lay down the centre of the tent which isnt too good to have the rope touching the top.

Hope you find your answers.  Kind regards.

We've not used the side extension but did have problems with our 2007 Vermont L. We used it for the final time this Whitsun and it leaked yet again despite us using the seam sealant for a third time. We took it back to the shop and they agreed to a replacement. We also found that we got a lot of condensation in the Vermont. We decided to upgrade to a Norfolk Lake and hopefully we won't get damp next time we camp.

We have the Vermont XL and ours is leak free thank heavens. It was thoroughly tested in York during Whit week. We haven`t noticed a lot of condensation though.
