Hi

We bought the pro action 12 berth tent from Argos and it is great except the  NOT sown in ground sheet. ive been looking at other tents and there is 2 that really catch my eye. The outwell hartford xxl (4 bedrooms 12 berth £350) and Pro action (10 bedrooms 20 berth £250) i know this one does not have a sown in ground sheet but you lot have given me some ideas to make one.

Does anyone have either of these? Can you give me your opinion please?

We have 5 kids and me and hubby so i wanted at least a 4 bedroom. The 10 bedroom one looks huge but im thinking of taking some of the bedrooms down and making more play space for the kids. Some of the other bedrooms can be used to storage. As well as this, this could be a tent we have for a long time and we are able to take family friends/kids friends with the bigger space.

Anyone got any wise words?

Thanks Lisa

Have to agree with Bryan. You wont go wrong with the Kansas. You can also buy the sun porch which is great for setting your kitchen up in and will give you more living space. We have 4 kids and are very comfortable in it. The Hartford looks great but has a large footprint that wont fit on a standard pitch, which limits  campsites or you will end up paying for 2 pitches. The same goes for the Argos one.

Hi.
Well I am not sure about the pree 2008 Khyams, there were quite a few did not survive the 2007 gales, But I must say the Khyam Company as stepped into the fray this year with confidence, 90% of their 2008 tents are classed as three season, Only a few very well known makes have the confidence to class their family size tents for more than two season. and cost far in excess what Khyams do.
Regards
Rex.

sorry I didn't notice that it was 5 kids + 2 adults,  the Kansas will sleep 7 but it will be crowded, your right in looking at 12 berth tents but I would avoid large argos tents as I've seen too many broke in moderate winds.

I say Go for the Hartford

I don't know about their 3 seasons (salt, pepper, vinigar?) but I wouldn't even consider pitching up my Khyam if the forcast was for winds over 30 mph because like most big nylon tents its far too flappy.

(tho I might take it up to skeggy for a flap this weekend )

I don't think you would get the 10 bedroom monster on any pitch . it would be like a circus tent.

The hartford you will also have trouble fitting on pitches at a lot of sites.

Have you looked at the outwell montana12 or the khyam michigan 12, the khyam was recently selling for £200. better shape to fit on pitches. There is also the royal 10 berth and the gelert meridian 10, I think all these have sewn in groundsheets too.

The Kyham Kansas sleeps 8. We use 2 double airbeds in the large pod and a double each in the 2 single pods but the kids do share a double each.

Hi,

Not sure about the Kyham but we have the Hartford XL and I would definitly recommend it.  The only thing to watch out for is campsites with restricted camping areas.  Our XL is 7.7m x 7.5m and some people have stated that their tents are too big for some sites (Not just Outwell!!), however we have booked 3 campsites for this year and none of them have turned us down.  The Outwell Hartford is an excellent tent.

I have the hartford xxlbrilliant tent.

went north wales last year, saw 2 khyams with broken poles, and various other tents with no flysheet's. people were leaving them in the skip, on the way out. we stayed till the end of our holiday. no problems
