I've got an aluminized reflective flysheet over the bedroom area of my tent and it really makes a difference............ It's lovely and cool in my tent!!!!

I don't like sleeping with the pod doors closed unless it's very cold. I don't even bother with the mesh. Also I don't usually use a groundsheet either so effectively the pod is open to the big, cool living area, which is well ventilated. In hot weather this makes an amazing difference when it comes to keeping cool and is one time where non-SIG tents score hands down. I prefer to be snuggled down under a sleeping bag in a cool pod than lying on top of a sleeping bag sweating in an airless sealed up pod.

I can't wait for the day that our tent is so hot in the morning that I have to get up and open the doors/vents. Have to say having only camped in England we haven't had this problem very much .

I also love getting up early when the grass is still dewy and the sun is coming up. Hubby and kids stay in bed a lot longer than me (even the dog goes back in the bedroom once shes had a stretch) so I put the kettle on and make the most of the quiet time. Wish it was that easy to get up on a work day

you can pitch so your tent is shaded in the morning - but then its hard to dry the dew/rain off it on packing up day (especially if you have to off by 11 & the site owner is walking up & down looking at his watch & tutting)

Have a canvas tent with no SIG - that'll make it easier.

I'm lucky that I'm the lie in slob in our family and Hubby gets up early and makes coffee

That looks rather neat - presumably quiet enough not to disturb the neighbours ?

I'll have the luxury of opting to sleep in the "lounge" this year with just the screens for modesty ..."4 man" tent or just one big one ?

Most of my camping so far has been done at music festivals so most of the normal methods for keeping your tent cool is out of the question and the hours normally associated with tents heating up are the few quite ones where you can sleep.

The best solution I've found is to peg a Space Blanket to the side of your tent facing the morning sun this will help get you the extra few hours kip if you really need it.
