A new camper here,We have just booked a pitch at searles at hunstanton which comes with a satellite tv hook up,has anybody use this? and if you have what kit do i need to bring from home ie..cable,sky box.......etc might aswell use it if its in with the price!,thanks in advance for your help.
no you just need a length of coaxil cable with an ariel plug on both ends. they actually sell tham on site but cheaper to do your own. can get both from b & q and you can also get one ready made up. try maplins if you have one. you cant get all satellite channels on the site but as you say its in the price so you may as well use it.
Just a word of warning - if you're on a mains service pitch at Searles get some heavy duty rock pegs as the pitch is semi hard standing and you'll bend all normal pegs.
we have a 10 metre cable and 20 metre cable. just depends how far you are from the hook up. the cable is usually waterproof. but if you are unsure just ask for advice wherever you buy the cable from. the cable isnt that expensive. we use ours quite a lot, as sites we use have tv hookup.

Pardon me if i am being thick but if you have one aerial plug in the hook up point and the other in your tv then how do you change the satellite channels and how many channels do you get?
I have emailed the site mods about the possibility of selling appropriate cables and they are OK with it. I am an AV installer by trade and also have lots of experience in aerial, satellite and TV distribution systems.
The cables would be made by myself, fully waterproof with crimped connectors at each end. I use the highest quality coax cable which is Webro WF100 (in this size).
I need some feedback on pricing etc.
What would you expect to pay for a 10,15,20m cable including interchangeable ends to accommodate different campsite's connection points and delivery.
Having never stayed at a campsite with TV hook up I am unsure of what the most common connectors are, threaded ("F") type or just push-in ("belling-lee") type?
you tune your tv in just as you would normally and it will pick up all available channels. but you dont actually get many sky channels at searles so be warned!
Tesla. i cant remember off hand how much we paid but maplins have 15m kit for £12.99 or 25m for £16.99 with all the attachments
