Had 4 days away on the east coast and really enjoyed it except for the birds. On arrival we were shown to our pitch , nice and flat and inbetween 2 caravans on season pitches , that'll do our team says me.

We got set up and are sat having a cuppa and we can hear the resident coo'ing so i look up and damn it the back end of the tent is just under the over hang of a large tree. How do you not see a 30 foot tree in full bloom ?

The following morning there it was, the token bird turd on the back of the tent.Reading about birds on the forums i got a clean cloth and dipped it in clean water and gently washed off the offending turd.Word must have got around and by the following morning every bird on the east coast was crapping on the back of our tent.Big turds , little turds, i even so a beautiful little robin cock his arse and drop a bomb on it with out breaking a note in his little song.Christ how i wanted to wring the little sh*tes neck!

And another thing ! doves dont bleeding coo , they do a sort of oooh oooooh ugh.Like a short ooh followed by a little longer ooh and then followed by a very short sharp ugh and they also just stop in mid ooh, they dont finish it off.I was laying awake in a morning listening to them oohing and felt compelled to ooh along with them and they would just stop in mid ooh .It was doing my head in , god i hate doves !

Oh yeah !   will all the rubbing and washing with a clean cloth and clean water have affected the water proofing of the tent ? i was doing a lorra lorra rubbing and scrubbing

I had same problem with my brand new tent. Problem was, the Gelert Lokon6 is a tall tent, and I'm not. Had to wait till I dropped the tent at the end of the holiday and used a damp cloth (not too damp as we did not want to pack a wet tent). Isn't it maddening when you erect a brand new tent for the first time, all shining and new, then get up on the first morning and find it covered in bird poo. The joys of nature!

Never mind your tents, whilst sat outside ours at Parkfoot last week I was sat there minding my own business enjoying a nice cool beer when I felt this almighty splat on my head, the same big bugger of a crow that had woken us up every morning got its final laugh by emptying its bowels on my head!  If only I'd had a gun!

Believe me, if that had happened I would have climbed the tree and given the bird a good slap!
