We had our first family camping trip on Friday for two nights at Holme Valley Campsite in Holmfirth and had a wonderful time. Weather was a bit hit and miss but I've dried the tent now!
The campsite was on a bit of a hill but as we arrived early we managed to find a decent pitch. Toliets and showers were spotless and the shop was well stocked and reasonably priced.
Not sure how often this happens but we were woken up at 1 in the morning by someone playing loud music. I got out of my tent and found a man and two kids sitting in a car with the doors open playing the Beautiful South on full volume. I politly asked him to turn it down which he did but then I was so annoyed I couldn't get back to sleep and then the baby woke up at 5.30am!!!!!!
Thanks for all the advice on UK Campsites, don't think I would have been as well prepared without it. Just looking at where we are going next!
Politeness is likely to get the desired result, not being polite is likely to achieve absolutely nothing
When we were away last week a small group were having a laugh after curfew, and although it didnt bother me as they were just having a good time, it did bother a lady who had no problem voicing her disapproval. Thing is, as she wasnt polite about it the said chap who had been "loud" with his mouth, then proceeded to be "extra loud" with his backside for the next hour. It made me laugh but dont think it had that effect on said woman lol
Glad to hear that your trip went well (apart from the music saga). We are going to go to that site one weekend if it stops raining!!!!! hope mr beautiful south not there then!
