Hi just wanted to tell all what a fantastic weekend we have just had in the Lymington area.

We knew before leaving that the area was likely to catch edge of quite a large storm and having purchased an Outwell Nevada L so that we could camp all year round in comfort we thought this would be a great chance to test it out..yes we are mad but we love camping in bad weather it all adds to the fun.

We arrived on Saturday at Hurst View touring site (found via this site) and was met by a realy friendly Mr Wing who showed us the to the our pitch saying "there is the field pitch where ever you want", it was blowing very hard at this point and he said if you have any problems give me a call and a couple of us will help.

Well Mandy and I managed to pitch our Outwell Nevada L OK  with the missus only going air bourne once lol.

Then off for a quick look at the area, by the time we returned it had started to rain we spent an hour at the tent before going to the Chequers pub for a nice meal, the pub is a bit of a walk from the site down an unlit lane and an alley but very pleasant through some lovely country side.

The storm kicked in with a vengence that night with high winds that had the tent in all sorts of funny shapes and the rain was almost side ways and continued till lunch time on the sunday, we spent most of this time in the tent watching and loving the weather from our cosy vantage point, but sadly others were not so lucky and a number of tents were destroyed durring this first night.

We spent another day exploring this great area by car and have vowed to return next time with our bikes as it has some of the best costal cycle routes I have seen, one bad thing though we bought some cockles to share at Mudeford and Mandy was extremely ill that evening but she said it didn't spoil her weekend to much.

Sunday evening from about 6 onwards was another night of more rain and strong winds.

Monday morning and it was still chucking it down. Across from us a group of teenagers had pitched for the weekend with four tents, on the Saturday they lost the large frame tent and on Sunday they lost a large A frame and one of the two man tents and sadly had to cut thier holiday short and leave I only hope it has not put them off, we went to see the owners about staying on for a few hours to see if the weather improved enough to dry the tent and was told we could stay as long as we liked that day at no extra charge !!

As for us we had a fantastic weekend at a great site run by lovely people and the tent performed brilliantly it held its shape reasonably well, no guy ropes pulls and no leaks, the only criticism we had was with the living space air vents that can be fastened down via two velcrow strips about three inches long but the wind was opening them back up causing heavy draughts in the living area, I think this could be sorted by use of longer strips of velcro.

I would like to be able to pass our expierences on to Outwell but can't find a customer service contact for them only info to refer all enquiries back to purchase point, if anyone knows how I can contact them direct I would apreciate it.

If any one is looking to purchase this tent I can highly recomend it for both its ease of pitching and its ability to weather a storm or two.

We're just back from a wild and wet weekend near York, which put our newly aquired Easy Camp Napoli 500 through its paces.

We watched as the dark clouds approached and thunder rumbled. Within 10 minutes fork lightning flashed overhead and the wind blew hard bringing at first heavy, fat drops of rain followed by hail. This all lasted for about 15 minutes then blue sky and everybody running about in shorts again!!

Our tent......fantastic! Hopefully that's as bad as it'll get for some time.

Hi Iian & tracytracy

Glad that I am not alone as a mad weather camper and that you both enjoyed the experience, it gives you a lot of confidence knowing that if it turns bad your holiday won't be ruined

Happy camping ttfn

Hi

We also experienced the bad weather on May bank holiday,on the north Devon coast Croyde to be exact. We unfortunatly lost our tent, was only a cheapy from ebay. Thanks to this site we are now buying the outwell montana, aka the great monty. So cant wait to put it to the test of the great british elements.

Happy camping

We storm tested our sunvalley 8 in May too. Had to laugh as we sat inside throughout a very bad storm, gale force winds rain etc, only to emerge to find abandoned caravans!!

We stayed warm and dry and the tent was excellent.
