Having read some recent reviews about Outwell tents with faulty zips and holes in new models I have to say I'm rather apprehensive and almost too scared to look at our new Outwell Montana 6. We've recently purchased this with a carpet and front extension but it's been too wet and windy to put it up in the garden as a test run but now I'm really worried at what we're going to find. I spent weeks researching tents and finally convinced OH that this was the tent for us and that Outwell was def one of the leading brands......!
So.......I'm really hoping that other Outwell owners are going to reassure me that we've made the right decision and there are more 'perfect' tents than faulty ones. Please tell me you found no holes or faulty zips or leaks in your Outwell (especially Monty owners)?
I have a Monty 6, and I have only used it for about 4 trips. And in those four trips I have had gales, rain that I would have thought would finish a tent off and it has taken everything. It is a fantasic tent, and out of all the tents the oh and I have owned, this is definately the best one. You will have so much fun in it. The only suggestion I could make is to put your mind at rest, why dont you put the tent up while the weather is poor, then you will be able to see if it leaks, and weather or not there are any holes or broken zips on it. Better to know now rather than at camp. Good luck, and I hope you have hours of enjoyment out of it.

We bought our Montana 6 and extension 2 weeks ago and spent last week in it. We had a thunder storm, torrential rain and gales, it didnt even move an inch nor did it leak. It really is the most impressive tent I've ever seen, stop panicking and enjoy your trip in it!
p.s. if you want to see what its like with the extension when erected then check out my gallery
Don't have a Monty, but love the tent with the extension! I have the Bear Lake 6, used it for the first time last month and no problems at all.
If it helps, this time last year there were tons of topics on here about leaky Outwell tents and faults. I have to say, it's been pretty quiet. So not as many problems as last year.
That's great thanks for those reassuring replies. I can now feel my shoulders slinking down from behind my ears and back to where they should be!
Hope to test the tent in the garden this weekend - no matter what the weather - but with a chilled bottle in the fridge and ear-plugs for the kids just in case.
I have the Outwell Monatana 6 too. I bought mine last Christmas and didnt have a chance to use it outdoors until May, although we had a practice putting it up in a community hall.
We have returned from very wet and at times windy weekend in yorkshire. It took everything with no problems. No leaks. We had just bought the front extension for the weekend at given the weather it was really useful.
For pitching it have a look at utube for the video of bloke putting the tent up on his own, much better than the outwell video or instructions. I managed to put it up on my own on Friday ahead of the wife and kids arriving.
(But can anyone tell me definitively how the tension straps are pegged as I seem to do it differently every time!)
I've had my monty 4 about 3 years it's been a good tent. Only had very minor leaks along a couple of seams after heavy rain but easily solved with seam sealant. I hope you enjoy your Monty 6.
Although it may seem that there have been a large number of problems with this tent, you really have to take these reports into context. Outwell sells literally thousands of these great tents, but a minority (and these days almost none!) have had problems. The people who have had the misfortune of experiencing various problems will, of course, rightly report the fact in these threads. Try to balance that with those who report on how good a tent this really is.
Open it up, pitch, and enjoy....
(P.S. I don't work for Outwell - I just like the Monty 6! )
