Hi just bought my first family tent its a Vango diablo 600 xp brand new at somerset camping (bargin at 199pounds .I pitched  the tent in the garden yesterday when it was dry with the help of my mum went ok  about 1&half hours to put up.

My question is that i am thinking of taking my wife & 2 children camping down to dawlish this weekend .Do you think its a good idea with all the wet weather today & do you think it would spoil my first camping experience in  this wonderfull tent ?

Hi and welcome!

I only started camping last year and would say to you, its fun, fun, fun all the way no matter what the weather. I look upon my camping trips with the kids as a huge adventure! So long as the rain stays off whilst pitching tent you will have a great time. Dont know how old your kids are, but take something they like to occupy them when you and OH are pitching the tent!

Warm water proof clothing, as what may spoil your trip is being cold and wet, so cosy clothes!!

Above all enjoy this marvellous adventure no matter what the weather brings! Good luck

If it were up to me then I'd still go (we're planning on going away this weekend unless its REALLY bad). Also its only wednesday and the forecast can always change so I wouldn't put too much store by what they're saying right now. AccuWeather and Metcheck are both saying there'll be a few showers in Dawlish but also some sunny spells so it doesn't look too bad at the moment.

there is a thread on here about big tents, and the general advice seems to be to check with sit before you leave.
good luck
