I have a Thermarest Basecamp self inflating mattress, but have few back problems. I know I am not likely to get a better self-inflating mattress, and I am no lover of inflatable air mattresses (lilo type).

i wondered if a camping bed might be a good bet after having seen one by Outwell recently.

Space is no problem for me - I have an Outwell Arizona which I can stand up in, for myself most trips.

Any thoughts?

Having had back problems myself I sympathise with you. My experience was to do all I could to sort out the back problem and not the bed.

Pain killers mask the pain and let you keep on hurting yourself.  I stopped the pain killers and stopped hurting my back!

i haven't tried ours yet but you can see how i reached my decision here

i plan to use my new fat airics for sleeping but if my bursitis still plays up i will be sleeping on my my airic on my fishing bedchair :)
