Hi

Just a quick question... I've been told that Avon Skin So Soft can work as a great insect repellent, so thought I'd get some.  Managed to find a brochure, but there are five different smells.  Anyone know which one it is?

The brochure lists - nourish, sensual, fresh, renewed and firm.  Think I was naively expecting one of them to be called repel or something.

Someone said it was the green coloured one, but there are three that look that colour.  If anyone knows, can you post the answer please, before I'm lulled into buying all five to edge my bets.

Thanks

Hi,

The green one called Soft and Fresh, (Used to be called woodland fresh I think!) is the one I believe to be the best at repelling the insects, my Avon girl had not delivered my order before we left for Glenmore in the Scottish Highlands so cannot tell you from experience of using the product, so hope it works for you guys!

Also use piriton but don't drive for the first day your using that. It's an anti histamine that prevents allergic reaction (itching) so you won't scratch so much.

I used Avon Skin So Soft once and it did really repel... my wife! Now, I use jungle formula btu on a general note, there is no surefire repellant and even those succesfully working for one, could be the wrong one for you.

Trial and error and a lot of bumps and scabs before you find what really helps you.

it doesnt repel the blighters as much as prevent them from biting. they dislike wind and rain so maybe you wont be troubled! Hah! also heard garlic capsules repel them. good luck. where are you going?

I find garlic capsules (odourless) work really well for me. Just dont have a problem anymore, and there are other health benefits associated with garlic. Ans as a side issue it helps keep fleas of dogs too!!!

we have used Avon skin so soft as insect repellent several times. it does not seem to matter which one you use. All have been slightly effective against Midge in Scotland and sand flies in New Zealand. In tropical areas we have used this this stronger DEET based repellents. I would say keep stonger repellents for when you have a risk of serious insect bites eg in areas with Malaria or have experienced loads of mosquitoes.

I thought at first the claims for Avon skin so soft were silly but it does seem to work. It also makes a change from some of the stong chemicals that are used.

Hi,

This is my first post on this site as I have been reading all the posts with great interest. How sad it is to be able to help out with an Avon question.....!! But my wife is a rep!!!

The answer your lookin for is the 'Dry oil body spray... Code No25742 Soft and fresh, or 25858 Soft and sensual.

  Hope this helps

 Regards

Iv`e still got some original woodland fresh, and yes it does work but at one campsite two years ago we had to buy Repel mosquito coils and burn these in the tent, plus some Tesco insect repellant to spray in the tent and our clothes, won`t be going back to that campsite !!
