Hello. Does a pod make a difference in terms of heat etc or can we use the tent as one big open space (it has a SIG). I thought about hanging mosquito nets from the ceiling to go over the beds to keep out insects...the reason I ask is our little children don't like sleeping zipped up in the pods and I thought it would be easier if we could all share the same space. Any advice will be gratefully received. We have a Vango Vail 700 with three pods.

Do the pods have double doors(ie do they have the mesh bit as well as being solid)?

IF so have you tried opening the pods so they are separated only by the mesh not a solid door?

We have been lucky with ours (children that is) in that they love the pods in a Diablo.

Thanks for getting back to me. The pods do have the double doors and we did try it with just the mesh zipped up but my youngest was still wary. He could of course sleep with us but then his sister would want to as well.....my idea of hell all of us squashed in the one bed! My husband said that it would get damp if we didn't use the pods to sleep in but I don't know if they really make that much difference.

As my son sleepwalks, we always sleep one adult and one child in each pod - keeps them happy and I get peace!!!

I don't see why you souldn't go for it, after all years ago tents didn't have bedroom pods.   No nets either - you took your chance with the insects.
This was the reason why we chose our Kos 6 when we went for a bigger tent - the fact that the big bedroom could be used as one or two rooms.
You could try it, and then move to unzpped pods and then eventually to the zipped pods.   Just have extra layers if you are chilly.

 Hi Eve, another option is to remove the sides of 2 adjoining pods and sew together to make one large pod,maybe being in with you will make the little ones feel happier,looking at your tent it would still leave you with a seperate pod for storage,I did this with my wynnster  pharaoh as the 2 pods were only big enough for a double airbed and our dog likes to sleep next to it in his basket,worked really well and was really easy to do ,I took scissors and needle and thread camping ,when hanging I cut out the sides and tacked in place,then when back at home I sewed it properly with the sewing machine

Thanks for the advice.....I think I will do what Evo has and make the two separate pods one. I am sure my husband will be thrilled that I am cutting/sewing a tent that we have only used four times! If we get a nights sleep it is worth it.
