Hi,

I've been looking at buying a double airbed and sleeping bags - as i'm new at camping would like to hear if this is a good deal.

In our morrisons there is a double self inflating flock airbed for sale at £12 is this a good price also in asda a single rectangle sleeping bag 2 season 250 rating at £6.99

any advice would be a big help

That sounds like a good deal on the air bed. The sleeping bag isn't very warm, so it depends how warm you are - I would freeze in that. It's probably ok indoors, but it would be too cold for me to camp in. If you are a hot person, it might be ok.

Thanks for your help I think I might go for the airbed - the same one is on the halfords website for £26.99.

I will have to look into tog ratings for sleeping bags as I hate being cold- I was going to take my duvet but thought this might be going over the top....

Hi Poppet,

Sleeping bags are the second most important thing for camping (tent is of course first) . Buy quality that will stop you shivering through the colder nights. There are many threads on here about sleeping bags . It would be worth spending a little time reading through them and getting some advice and opinions there.

Self inflating airbeds... see one inflated and then decide. Cheap ones are often bumpy and thin and dont inflate propely. Even though I know this, I was tempted recently and bought a cheapy out of curiosity... the stuff sack is upstairs and the airbed in the trash lol

My advice would be to take your duvet if you can squash it down enough to fit in the car. Hubby & I used sleeping bags at first, but I found that when I had a hot sweat (it's an age thing  ) I just couldn't get the zip open quick enough. We now use a 13.5tog duvet and we both find it far better than the sleeping bags.
