As someone has rightly pointed out, I was merely trying to show the people who are interested a bargain IMO.

What will be the next thing BURNING me at the stake.

God some people

I think whatever you want to take with you, if it makes you happy and doesn't interfere with other campers then take whatever you like, after all it's your holiday.

As I've said before  I tried to tell friends how great it is to camp. One person said "Oh No I don't like being cold/dirty/uncomfortable etc etc, So to tried to convince her, I said you can get lots of stuff to make it more comfy. " Like what" she said. I said, You can get EHU and then have a telly, heater, dvd etc etc and we have our own loo so we don't have to treck across the campsite in the night and she then said. "Ahh but but thats not really camping is it!!!"

camping
n : the act of encamping and living in tents in a camp [syn: encampment,
          bivouacking, tenting]

As far as the dictionary is concerned camping is encamping or living in a tent,
so to all those who say EHU, TV`s or whatever aren`t camping, you are WRONG! As
long as you are in a tent you are camping.

The original poster was showing anybody that was interested a tv that he thought was a bargain.

Now if you choose to buy one or are even interested in having a tv, is up to you, but this is not another thread about tv or not tv. We all camp for different reasons.

The point I was trying to make.

I second that and I reiterate, unless you are in the middle of nowhere, sleeping under a tarpaulin and cooking over a campfire set alight by you rubbing two twigs together you have no right to tell anyone they aren`t proper campers. The OP was being helpful in pointing out something that others might be interested in, if you`re interested.......great, if not don`t tell others if they are interested in TV`s they shouldn`t be camping.

go to the pub take games any thing but tv camping is camping not watching tv you go camping to get away from the tv stay a home if you wont tv

And why did people go camping before we all had TV, was it to get away from the pub?

I go camping because I enjoy it, not to get away from television or anything else.  Most of us are capable of turning the television off and we don't have to go away for a break from it.

If anyone is a bit IT savvy (to transfer the videos over etc.) why not this instead of an iPod?

Creative ZEN 16GB Flash MP3 player

Plays movies, MP3, FM stereo radio, displays pictures and more...

Less than half the price of an iPod Nano and does so much more. We just bought one and it's incredible. It's the size of a credit card...

It isn't the telly though ;)

(and it's a very teeny screen - personally I could have lived without the video aspect.)

To be honest, so far I haven't found it any more useful than the Creative 1GByte player that kept me company in my tent last year - but i may get organised and copy some music to SD cards so I can play the same holiday compilations on the car stereo and in my tent.

Battery life so far has proved very poor.
