hi

We're going to a campsite with EHU. Our hook up cable is only 5m or maybe 10 with  4 sockets. Is this likley to be long enough or can you use extension leads if necessary. We've never used electric before.

Thanks

no ,,5m definately not long enough, and you will probably be strugling with 10m. especially with a monty 6.

having couplers exposed on grass is not a good idea either.

if it was me, i would buy a 25m caravan hook up lead, and replace the cable on the 4 socket outlet.

Is it a proper EHU as they are normally single socket or triple socket and I have never heard of a 4 socket unit. Does have trip switches? If its not a poroper unit you may not be allowed to use it.Otherwise you can get a three pin extension cable to extend yours like this one

Mains Hook Up Cable 25 mtrs

Why do people buy this rubbish and put there lives at risk.

you need to go to go outdoors or any other worthwhile camping shop and buy a proper EHU. These are the ones that have a trip switch on. This is the item from go outdoors. Hope this is of any help...

I wouldnt put that cable near a tent to be honest. Its not got ANY safety cutout or protection of any kind. Infact you may find the campsites wont let you use it. Its dangerous. Do you really want to put yourself or your family at risk? Remember you are still in the elements (rain, condensation, high humidity). This is one piece of equipment im afraid you CANT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE take second best when using EHU cables.

Quite a few campsites offer extension leads for EHU. It would be worth checking with the campsite you are staying at.

SunnCamp brought one out this year, a roller Mains unit with 4 sockets, capable of detecting reverse polarity too.

I got one and it is very neat and handy when compared with the 3 socket rectangular one, and it gives me an extra socket!

Peeps need to remember to get a mains unit with RCD, not just any extension lead fitted with a blue plug! 17

If one pays much less than 50 GBP for a 3-socket extension lead, then it is unlikely to be suitable.

Mind you, an outdoor gear company recently offered a 3-socket mains unitl wtih RCD for 29.99 GBP, now that is a bargain!

With regard to distance from EHU pole, I must have been fortunate as never needed extension in last five years 17
