Just got to finish this shift do 3 more then 4 days packing, shopping and organizig then we are off on our longest camping trip yet.

Went to Chapel st leonards and surrounding areas a few times last year as they were not too far to drive(about 2.5 hrs)with thekids who are 10,2 and 1 in our tent and the kids loved it but then we were seduced into caravanning so did one trip at the beginning of he year in the caravan but have decided camping is the way to go,so in the early ours of tuesday morning(hopefully kids will sleep in car) we are setting of for Trethiggey campsite in Newquay and I CANNOT WAIT.

Spent the past month writing my lists getting the gear organized and generally be much more excited than the kids, upgraded the car to an espace as the Jeep has surprisingly little boot space. Also spent a ridiculous amount of time lurking on this site picking up tips (e.g cat litter toilet bucket, picnic blankets under the air beds and many more.Printed off a list of meals from the recipe page tokeep us going as in the past we have lived off tins but we are going for 10 days this time and there is only so many beans you can eat, especially when ther is 5 of you sharing a tent lol.

Not really a point to this post just sat at work at 1 am and needed to share my excitement with somebody.

Love this site and love camping xx

Little village on the outskirts of Chesterfield about 9 miles from Bakewell.

Dad and Brother coming round tomorrow to help me pitch tent in front garden so I can check it over, tried the other day with OH but bit windy and ended up in a row instead as usual lol we are fine once tent is up and he leaves me alone to set up my mini home but seems to think that he knows best when it comes to pitching the tent lol

Not far away then!  I live in Whitwell, which is about 20mins away from Chesterfield.  Work at the RSPCA in Chesterfield too.

Me and my OH ALWAYS fall out when we put the tent up, whether it's when we're away or on his back garden!!

Ok, he does have a lot of common sense, but he doesn't even like camping!! haha!

Well, looks like I better turn in, working at Argos in Worksop tomorrow, but not til the afternoon, but my mum is shouting at me from her room to get to bed!

Night!

First time with EHU as well so just debating getting one of thos little oven/grill things from Lidl had a look today and they look quite good but not sure if they will just take up space in the car and not be used that much.Thay also had small camping bbqs in reduced to 4.99 what does anyone think, they appeal to me as the are on legs so wont risk scorching the ground or will we be best buying a few cheap disposable ones there and placing on bricks?

Well I'm only part time as a fundraiser, so only there 16 hrs a week, but please do come down as we are just about full with dogs!  There are 3 in particular that have been with us a long time: Rocky (who was a cruelty case), Calley and Teighan.  You can see videos of them on our website: http://www.chesterfield-rspca.org.uk

I was thinking of taking a disposable bbq and a couple of bricks.  I have a disposable one from last year that we didn't use cos the weather was so bad!  My dad says that he has a small one I can have though, so I will have a look wht that's like.

Put tent up in the front garden today just to make sure all was ok before we go away and made me even more impatient, had to walk past it to leave for work tonight and would rather have just blown up an air bed and gone to sleep in it.

Two year old joining in the giddiness now and tells any neighbour who strolls past that it is his seaside tent.

Read a couple of posts on hear about Trethiggey campsite and sounds like a few people have had bad experiences as it allows young groups and therefore quite noisy, doesnt bother me too much as I sleep through anything, but just wondering if anyone has anything good to say about it.

You might get away with a couple of bricks under a portable barbie, (try to leave an air gap) but last year I made a paving slab-shaped scorch mark at Talland Bay that will be on Google Earth before long.
