caz, thats not a lot of faith in their products is it!!!! Its a bit like saying dont leave your metal tent pegs in the ground because they'll eventually rust away!! I'd be very interested in what the manufacturers had to say about that advice.

Nope, not the same thing at all - fridges come on and off depending on the temperature in them as they are themostatically controlled. All the electric coolboxes I have had just run continuously.

We have the Lidl one, & it says switch it off for so many hours( about 5-8 hours) I think  every 5 days, so we do this if we are away for more than this time & do it overnight never had any probs.
