Hi all,

I would like some advice on replacing the perished rubbers on my 20 year old Cabanon Chalet frame tent.

The tent itself is still in v.good condition but the rubbers are showing their age.

All advice grately appreciated

Thanks in advance

Ian

You can buy replacement rubbers that have a 'T' shaped section to hook into the existing loop on the tent.

Any caravan shop will have awning rubbers, same thing, all sorts of sizes.and theyre really cheap.  if you have a canvas loop that the rubber is attached to , you can  just pass the rubber through it and loop the new rubber through itself .

loads available on here

I've seen them in various camping shops, but if you get stuck you can get them on Ebay.

I had to replace some of the rubbers on my sunncamp gite 5. I got the replacement rubbers from go outdoors (they were literally only pence each) and attached them to the canvas loops with split rings (like the ones on key-rings) Only thing I need to watch out for is making sure they are totally dry before storing the tent in case they rust and stain the canvas.

the large ones are easy but come in several sizes so measure yours carefully .the ones above are excellent but can be a begger to get through the original loops

I always pulled the loop through with a piece of cord.

Hi Ian
Their are many replacement rubbers on the market but I have yet to find a replacement for the ones on my cabanon tents. Most stretch too far, the others are brittle and snap under tension. For the last two years I have replaced the ones that have decayed with some Isabella ones, that I had left from my caravan days. These are first class but I have just sent of for a pack of 10 as the deign as changed
so until I get them I will not be able to say how they will fit.
Regards
Rex.

Hi again all,

Thanks ever so much for your great response to my dilema, you have given me some great options.

I'm sure my tent will now be as sturdy as ever with all your ideas.

Many thanks again
