Items of value should be locked up in the car, I don't think we need to put cookers etc in there to, just keep things tidy and partly out of site if possible.  I have never had anything taken before and don't know anyone that has.  In the main I think we as campers don't have a thief problem.  It can happen as it does everywhere, keep it tidy and keep temptation away.

not a problem we have, having canvas frame tents we cook in the tent so when we go out everything is "indoors" anyway

If you leave cooking equipment outside the tent then go to somewhere like Asda and get a barbeque cover for it, not likely that it will go missing as there are always eyes on a campsite

Thankfully i have NEVER had anything stolen from me in 30 odd years of camping...and i must say...it is terrible to read this thread about weather you should put your stuff away or not......what is the world coming too ? there has always been a camping code....keep a look out for your fellow camper's gear !!!

Not really an issue for us, we have an ancient Tilley Talisman and a camp kitchen that will never see 30 again lol.  If there is anybody out there that loves them please take them when you see them unattended outside our tent. 

Been nagging OH for new for years now, his answer "if they still work why do you want new".

Came home one afternoon to find that next-door campers had been in our tent.

It had started raining and they had taken in a load of washing we had left out.

This sort of intruder gets my vote of thanks.
