Hi Cat,

Sorry to hear about your broken foot, how long ago did you do it ?

If it was me I'd wait until it was better, the last thing you need is to fall on some uneven ground or drop something on to it and set yourself back again.

As the saying goes "Time is a great healer"....

Whatever you decide to do get a 'limbo' to go over your cast - its waterproof and makes having a bath or a shower fun. My mum broke her ankle in May just before we went on a Haven chalet holiday and the limbo let her wash safely and easily and get onto the beach. We also stuck it on if we were out and it looked like it might rain before she got back to the car.

I reckon if you pick the right places there's no reason not to camp - you just need to take it easy and not wander around over fields - not easy on crutches - take something to put your leg up on and lots of pain killers. It should be fine..

Oh - lots of alcohol too

poor you Cat, I was stressing out over my son who broke his little finger on weds, but rather a finger than a foot! (even though they have set it in an awkward right angle position)

Hope you can still get away camping, you can always rest while others put your tent up and do the hard work, play on it as much as you can, i would!

My daughter fractured her arm day before they broke up (last thurs) though the dr said it wasn't in a place that needed a cast so just left it in a sling and said it would be ok - she seems to have pretty much forgotten about it today.

You should get one of those 'limbo' things, let OH put tent up and sort stuff out while you sit and watch.  He'll get his own back next time I expect.

Will you be able to get everybody to do all the hard work cat? Im sure it is a bit difficult with a broken foot as you probably have to keep it elevated. Perhaps go somewhere not too far from home and look into one of those 'limbo' things.

A guy on  broke a bone in his foot while playing football on our site this week. He's had to spend the rest of the week sitting in the sun drinking beer (medicinal purposes) while is wife took the children out every day. Now guys stop looking at that mallet

Hi

My son broke his leg the night before we were setting off to Trevornick for 2 weeks 2 years ago,  but we still went, swapped his fun park vouchers for the hire of a wheel chair to use on site, but went to the beach on his crutches and had to go to Truro hospital for his main cask to be put on but we still had a good holiday, If you have sombody to do the hard work Id go for it, better sat about on holiday, than sat about at home.

The limbos are really good he went in the pool and the sea with it.

Good luck

Hi Cat

Poor you - I've also broken my foot and can sympathise as I am currently sporting a rather fetching pink fibreglass plaster! I went away for a night's camping with the initial back slab plaster just a few days after breaking it (it's a small fracture in my heel) - I mentioned my plans to the nurses treating me and they said I needed to keep it dry but didn't advise me not to go.

We were with three other families so there was no shortage of people to help me and I spent most of the time sitting down with my foot up. The biggest problem for me was getting back and forth to the shower blocks on my crutches - I'm not the most musclebound gal and the extertion of getting up the road actually made me pass out on the morning we left. I could probably have stayed another night but to be honest I thought it was all rather a strain on my OH so I think I'll wait until the plaster's off before going again.

Hope this helps and that the foot heals soon.

Rhian

PS I have a limbo cover - can't recommend it enough.
