Hi all,

Just got back from a fantastic week at Skyeside, the ground was a little rocky and we had a bit of trouble with the pegs (bog standard ones and the funny v shaped ones) quite a few got very bent but we managed, however in August we are going to Longnor Wood and apparently there is only "a small amout of top soil then rock" so help please we need pegs that wont bend, we looked at delta but they seem more for softer, windy locations.

We've got a heavy duty mallet that I 'borrowed' from cricketing son! We had two rubber mallets they both broke when hammering in pegs in in rockier soil. We also bought an Outwell plastic one which was a complete waste of money.

A good tip when the ground is very hard and dry is to pour some water onto the ground where you want to peg. Wait a few mins and it softens the ground to allow the pegs to go in more easily.

This is something we have had to do in France more than soggy England though!

That reminds me I need to buy another mallet before we go so we have one each- saves time.
