Had an amazing first weekend of camping at the weekend [Lakeside, Llangorse]. Tent was excellent – roomy and easy to erect and dismantle. Area was nice. Couldn’t fault the weather. We had a great time…

Apart from the many inconsiderate campers that were at the site.

We were kept up until about 3.30am Sunday morning by a group of twenty-something drunks who were talking loudly.

The large group of people the opposite side felt the need to talk at the top of their voices first thing Saturday morning as they set off for a day on their boats. They then played music loudly into Saturday night [which, to be fair they turned off at about 11.30pm].

We also spoke to people who camped next to a large family group who were woken on Sunday morning by the use of an air horn.

How very inconsiderate. Thankfully it didn’t spoil our weekend, and we look forward to going away again.

Unfortunately the current increased popularity of camping seems to be making this kind of thing more common!  I am finding myself being much more careful these days about the type of sites I visit!  Everyone wants to have a good time when camping, but this should not come at the expense of other campers enjoyment!

Glad you had a good weekend though!

Yep i take that on board. I can sort of understand a fair amount of noisy behaviour, but the total lack of consideration for others at the site was unbelievable at times.

Yep, it won't put us off

Was there a warden on site that you could speak to? Does the site have a time when campers are supposed to quieten down?

I would say that talking loudly until 3:30 am is unacceptable. Trouble is when people have been drinking they don't realise how loudly they are talking. Some noise is unavoidable. Some people like to get up and about early in the morning. Depends how early you mean.

Try looking for sites that have a no noise policy after a certain time. We do and have not had a problem.

Glad you enjoyed yourselvs though. We were due to go away but our stupid car failed its MOT and is in the garage at the mo being fixed.

There was no warden that i was aware of, and i'm not aware that there was a time when people needed to quieten down. I thought it would have just been out of courtesy i suppose.

7am was the time when the neighbours woke everyone up - a bit too early IMO.

Yeah will definitely look for that in the future - thanks for the tip.

I wonder if the type of park has a baring on this kind of thing? We allways used to camp at slightly less popular areas. For instance not on top of a beach, or maybe very close to an resort area....

I think you're right, the "chav" element was fairly high.

Which makes it a crying shame. I always thought that campers were a certain 'breed' The primary qualifications being that Politeness, Friendless & Trustworthiness* were the cornerstones.

Still, Let us know ponder on the bad times! It's still fun camping!

were off on the 14th ,we usually avoid the summer like the plaque for the reasons you mention (well not the air horn yet ) and the continual smoke from barbies and kids squabbling but its been "arranged" for us and some other family members
we like it at the beginning and end of the season when the real campers are about
