I hope somebody on UKCS can help me. After successfully selling my Sunncamp APS tent I am considering purchasing a Coleman Darwin 7 but nobody can seem to tell me if it includes a set of awning poles. On all the pictures of this tent I have sent, it always shows the poles but are they included. I went to Go Outdoors in Coventry last weekend and asked them but they did not seem to know. I have also emailed Coleman, without success. Can anybody else help. When I get the tent, do I need to buy these seperately?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Regards
Vixen

Hi

We have just bought a Darwin 5 from Go Outdoors in Coventry - and it came with two awning poles - so I presume the same is true for the Darwin 7.

We have used it for one weekend so far - lovely tent and easy to put up.  The high porch at the front makes it really spacious and a good useable space.

If by awning you mean the sun canopy, then yes the tent should come with 1 set of pole enabling you to put it up.I would think Coleman being a top quality equipment maker would not omit this.

Enjoy your Darwin! Ours is fab.

Do check out the instructions in the reviews for putting it up, as I found the instructions from the manufacturer were not worth the paper they're printed on!

Thank you Superjules.

I am a little bothered about the reviews for this tent on here now regarding the tension of the poles and whether it might leak in a heavy rain (I'm not totally pessimistic!).  We had a Sunncamp APS 3006 previously and it was a great tent, very sturdy in heavy winds and rain, but it was just a beast of a tent packed up, it was massive and I only have a Ford Escort and took up half the boot space.  The Darwin 7 packed up is a fair bit smaller, which is good, but we have yet to use it.

Vixen, I've camped in some absolutely dire weather, where I've woken up to a flooded field, loo block half underwater, where everyone else has broken camp in the night, and our tent has never leaked. We had a fantastic thunderstorm on Monday night at Orchard and had no problems at all. Just make sure all your ventilation points are open, particularly the big one at the back, otherwise you will get some serious condensation.

Are you going to practice putting it up before you go away? The instructions are in the darwin 5 review in case you can't find them.

Have fun!
