I've just returned from a pleasant week at a campsite in Croston, Lancashire , where we encountered some rather unpleasant neighbours. Upon setting up their "Argos Special" they then decided to start up the 4x4 to power the extremely large stereo, whilst going about lighting a campfire that put a lot of the Nov 5th ones to shame! This , I could try to ignore , whilst tutting in my tent , but the final straw came when the allowed their 3 children , whom appeared to be in the 10 - 14 age bracket , to drive the 4x4 around the field , at 30-40 mph.
After 8 passes of the 4x4 between my tent and the playpark , where my children were known to walk between quite frequently, OH asked them to please stop. Instead of an apology , profanaties were directed towards us , and still the rallying continued. A call to the warden , brought him to the field , and he told them they had to leave the very next morning. The loud music and driving did cease then , but I must admit I was a little concerned for the safety of my tent, vehicle and equipment until they got up and left in the morning , cheerily giving us the "V" signals on thier way out past our tent.

unfortunatelylack adder - the site we encountered problems WAS on a small out of the way site !! We deliberately avoid commercial sites for this reason. To be fair this is the first time we have endured such uncouthness !....we've camped about 15 times or so and this experience was by far the worst. I would add that although this family were thankfully replaced by an old couple in a shiny new caravan who were very quiet....we did still have to listen to Eastenders on their telly !!...
As a good start I think I would add to my list campsites that do not allow televisions !...although its not a rule I have ever seen unfortunately. For the life of me I cannot understand why on earth anyone would want to sit in a tent, all zipped up, watching eastenders ( God lets end it all now !! ).....when they could be sat outside watching the most glorious sunset over the sea...nowt funnier than folk !

I was wondering if I was in a minority here! I thought one of the main points of camping was the outdoors life, a chance to spend quality family time together. Granted rubbish weather restricts activitites some what but there are still plenty of things to do together.
I have just had EHU for the first time and had the luxury of my hairdryer (oops noise!) and cold wine and beer from the fridge but I cant think for the life of me why I would get a DVD/TV to play in a tent? Maybe I am old fashioned? (By the way am on the right side of 40 so not that old!)
