It depends upon the fridge and the ambient temperature.

You will not be able to run a fridge from a Gaz 901 cylinder its simply not man enough for the job !  you need a 907 or a Calor 4.5kg with the correct regulator. If you are going abroad you must take a Camping Gaz 907 to ensure exchange abroad if not then a Calor 4.5 will be the most cost effective option

Why is it not up to the job?

I can't see why a smaller cylinder wouldn't power a fridge, even if it didn't last as long as a bigger bottle? surely the pressure is the same adjusted by the regulator?

After all a small cannister like a can of hairspray can power a single stove, just as well as a 4.5kg bottle, but only lasts 2.5hours?

I am not a bit technically minded, all l I know is my 907 bottle has powered my 3 way fridge for 17 days so far, and it doesn't feel half empty yet.

Not being argumentive, maybe a bit thick, but can't see how it wouldn't work.

Quite right, it is the same gas at the same pressure, the only difference is the quantity of gas and therefore the time that it will last.  There is no reason whatsoever why a 901 cylinder should not be used to run a fridge, they use gas at a lower rate than a stove or lantern, for which the 901 was designed.

ok here goes guys .........

LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) is stored in the bottle as a liquid, it has to "boil" within the cylinder to turn it to a vapour which is then delivered  via tubing to the jet in your appliance. An LPG bottle is filled to a precise level within the bottle to leave enough space (Vulge) to allow the boiling process to take place. if the amount of LPG vapour required by the appliance(offtake) exceeds what the bottle (due to its size) is capable of delivering then the appliance will not perform correctly. Thats why when a bottle or canister ia approaching empty the appliance it powers takes longer to boil your kettle or the light output of your lantern is reduced.

In theory the fridge will operate as the gas offtake of a fridge is relatively low, but, and its a big but as per above the fridge will not operate at its optimum for very long due to the small capacity of a 901 bottle, not a problem if it take twice as long to boil your kettle but if your fridge is not operating correctly it will not be able to maintain its internal temperature and the contents of your fridge will warm up.......  a Camping Gaz 904 however would be sufficient to power the fridge effectively if you dont want to go the 907 route.

Regards
