Does anyone have a good recommendation for a decent quality table & chairs to use for eating when camping (for 2 adults and 2 children) ?
I've seen this one online but don't know whether it would take my 15st without collapsing ! ! I phoned and asked the bloke selling it, his response being "haha, try it and find out" !
We've had one of the plastic fold out picnic style ones before (like this) and that only lasted a couple of trips before one of the chair supports went and it's now a bit 'precarious'......
Bet the bloke wouldn't replace it if it broke! We gave up on those fold up ones as they are uncomfortable and always felt as if they were about to collapse.
If you choose separate tables and chairs it's not so much of a pain if something breaks.
I bought an aluminium camping table with 2 stools off ebay last year. Used this year and have been excellent. You can use your normal chairs to sit at if wished or use the stools as comfortable footrests - just the right height. Stools also useful for sitting on whilst BBQuing too.
Packs down flat and the stools fasten underneath
I paid about £14 for them plus a tenner for P and P and so far one of my camping best buys.
We bought the table you link to on Ebay for about the same price. The table and chairs are a marvel in engineering as they pack up snug and have some good features. Top adults can easily sit on the bench and they seem sturdy. I would recommend.
Check your local Halfords, as, yesterday, we picked up a folding table, and four 'fishing stools' that are stored inside. The bottom half of the legs unscrew so that the table could be used when sitting on the ground (kids playing). Folds up like the tradional picnic table. Cost less than £40, and it seems nice and stable.
We have one of these tables with adjustable legs, which is a god send when on a sloppey(sp) site. We then just use our normal camping chairs for the four of us to sit around (2 adults 2 kids). The table folds flat so is the bottom thing in the boot with everything else on top of it, and to be fair the table is not the first thing you need out of the boot when you hit camp.
