Hi foks,

I'm a first time camper with a young family and I wanted a rock solid, reliable tent so, after reading a few opinions on the message boards here, I bought a Montana 6 a couple of months ago.

We used it for the first time this week in North Wales and enjoyed a couple of heavy downpours while we were there.  I found the seams at the top of each window were leaking, not profusely, but enough to leave a small puddle every morning.

Has anyone had a similar experience with an '08 model? Is a certain amount of leakage acceptable and expected?

We took our new Monty out only last weekend and we had a heavy downpour, fortunately we had no leaks.

Hi Des,

I haven't got the Montana 6, but I have read on these forums somewhere that on new tents the area where stitching is done sometimes does leak on first use.  This should irradicated for the second use as the fabric shrinks over the holes that were made by the sewing machine.

Hope this makes sense

Or you can get a seam sealer to use

Thanks for the quick reply, folks.

I phoned Go Outdoors just to check as to what to do and they said it shouldn't leak at all. They'll test and swap in the next couple of days.

It's probably best if I let them sort it out.

Just returned my 2007 Montana back for testing for the exact same thing. Not a massive amount of water but certainly in the wrong place as drips down the seams where the bedroom is attached and then pools. The pools then of course run under the inner bedroom tent wetting the floor.

So far local dealer has been very hopeful and knowledgeable. Just waiting for the to test.
