Is the Outwell canopy (for our Monty 6) okay to leave up in windy weather or is it best to take it down ? It seems pretty sound - up in the garden at present - and its no gazebo, but it does looks rather like a kite and I dont want to risk the rest of the tent if it goes ! What do others do ?
I have indiana 6 and the canopy has withstood very high winds and thunder storms, when other tents gazebos have been blown away. I think the indy canopy might be slightly smaller tho.
I do recall seeing photos in a post last year of someones Monty plus canopy on a fairly exposed site, I think it was in Scotland, so I am going to go with leaving it up, seems a bit pointless if it can only do rain but not wind ! What about sun (as if !) do they have any UV protection does anyone know ?
Do you mean the front or side canopy? We have the side canopy and have left it up in extremely windy weather and besides the noise it makes on the roof of the tent otherwise it is quite sturdy. Onone occassion a couple of tentsboth sidesofus did not survive the windy conditions but our tent including side canopy was fine. At the end of the day its all about bhow well it is guyed as to wether it will be secure.
