Yes your right i feel he has been given a little bit of authority and its gone to his head. I didnt ask if i could leave a light on, he asked me what do you want electrics for and i said i want on leave a light on at night then he said if you do i will be coming round to tell you to turn it off. I explained it was a 5w and he didnt listen he interupted me and said it will disturb others. I am wondering if its worth it to make myself a member or not but i thought it would be more secure and safe for a female on their own if it was a members club.

Hi christina,
You are quite correct, for a lady on her own you will be certain of a peaceful site with very friendly members from all types of unit, that would willing give you help.
Their are still a few idiot managers employed by the C&C Club who think they are there to manage the members not the site, and the sooner the club relieve themselves of these managers the better it will be for all.
Don't judge the C&C Club by the few bad apples it employs.
Regards
Rex

My bet is that a tiny nursery night light wouldn't be powerful enough for anyone outside the tent to see that it's on. I doubt the manager would have a clue!
------------- It's easier to walk down a hill than to climb a mountain, but the view from the top is better!
I dont think he would have noticed to be honest, but when he asked why do i want electric and i said a light thats when he made his speech. But on reflection its none of his damb business what i want electrics for, i paid for them and really thats all he needs to know. What if i couldnt sleep and i put on the light to make a drink or sit and read. The reasons for having electric is convenience and if its a cool evening maybe a heater and ime sure there any number of other reasons too.
I know you cant judge everyone the same, but i think when an interview is conducted it must come across if you are a people person. Is a shame because the C &CC have alot of lovely places from what i have seen and read, but its things like this turn people away. Like you say there are some who try to manage the people rather than the site. I agree the sooner they realise who these people are the better, but doesnt this happen in all walkes of life.. the last time my friends were there and they struggled with their tent a lovely gentleman came and helped put it up and peg it down too.

Good grief, what a cheek! None of his business.
(And I bet he wouldn't ask a caravanner or motorhome camper that question. If he did, their responses would be quite lively )
I agree with what others have said, though, don't let this bad experience put you off C&CC sites in general. Most of them are pretty well run, clean, quiet at night without rowdy groups and do provide a safe and (usually!) friendy environment.
No i cant class all the same. But it does seem that tents arent really welcome. A review on Kendal said he had the same problem with size of tent and a long lecture from the manager
We use our solar lights, out in the day and in the TT at night so if we need the ladies room we can at least see where our shoes are and see where you are going, it saves so much on a battery torch !!!!
Goodness, I have never heard of that one before, sounds like that manager needs a change of career! We have 3 under the age of 5 and there is no way we wouldnt have a light on at night. We had a wind up led which never really went off, and the elder two had their little torches and a glow stick each, which they loved. I dont think any reasonable site would have a ban on those sorts of lights, so I dont know where your site manager is coming from. If its electric costs then frankly if the site is that strict on usage I would be looking for somewhere else. Actually I wouldnt have even though to have asked about a light!
I didnt ask about a light he asked me what i wanted electricity for and i said lights etc and he then said about asking me to turn it off. I havent heard of this before either from reading anything or from my friends. Well, never mind there is more than one camp site his loss. But i dont think they will miss my contribution becasue he says there are 5000 people go there every year.
I have never been asked why I wanted EHU before and have never been told to turn a light off either, I would have told him to mind his own damn business !
We take a UFO light with us and when we go to bed we turn off the electric light and leave the UFO on the table in the main living area. We find it lights up the area without being obtrusive.
Windermere is the one C&CC site we have had problems on, don't be put off the others. I made a complaint about staff there a couple of years ago, we got a very similar response to the one you had, I have no confidence that it made any difference, and won't be going back! Its also the most expensive ice pack freezing I've ever come accross - 40p a block, and they gave me a hard time and said I should be paying more because our ice packs are bigger than usual!
Did you get into Scarborough? We have just come back from there, and really liked it.
Mind you I have never booked direct with the sites, I always either use the central reservations number or book online.
