Go for it. We are headed for Bala on Saturday. Forecast is rain Sat, OK Sun, thunderstorms Mon, rain, Tues, then OK for rest of week. While fine weather is preferable, rain or cold doesn't deter us, we all have good waterproofs and warm layers. What I don't like is when cold and wet are combined with winds.
Last week we camped just outside York, pitching the tent on Sunday in temps in the high 20's was quite a slog. We only had one afternoon/evening of rain the whole week, spending the rest of the time in shorts, sunhats and slapping on the factor 50. The long-range forecast before we went though was for wet, coolish weather all week.
This isn't the first time this has happened, so although I check the forecast, I don't take it as gospel. If the forecast is good I think of it as best case scenario, if forecast is bad I think of it as worst case scenario.

i have a caravan but used to have a tent .
i would say GO if you dont you will feel very down in the dumps after looking forward to it.
if its that bad in the day find a leisure centre and chill out or dry out for a few hours. go to the cinema, as long as the tent is dry then go. if you cant cope with it then go home.
we have been on trips and come home early and regreted it.
my HO says its better to be home than camp in the rain but he would hes a misserable ...
i would rather go in fact im thinking of taking the tent and going on my own for a few days just to escape from him and im no spring chicken,
good luck have fun.
