I don't mind rain, we all have good waterproofs and just get on with it. What I dislike is an extended period of rain, wind and cold togther. Never actually camped through it, but could imagine it would be pretty miserable.
York last week, we had really hot weather, then the mother of all thunderstorms on Thursday night. It was lovely to be cool for a while. Sat outside under the tarp ... love the sound of rain on canvas!
We were also lucky at bank holiday, got mild sunburn in Barnard Castle on the monday. I was shocked when I got back and read the horror stories about other paets of the country.

We had that in May/June. We nt away for two weeks to Devon, had glorious sunshine all day and only rain came at night. Back home every day was a wet day and even in some parts of Devon and Cornwall people on here were reporting leaking tents and windtorn ones.
Before you go why not look on the web for indoor activities near to where you are going to stay. There is bound to be a swimming pool nearby, and maybe an indoor playcentre with ball pools etc. Maybe museums if your children are interested, or somethng like a sea-life centre is usually indoors.
Get some indoor games and colouring books and felt pens as they usually keep kids occupied for a short while anyway. And lots of plain paper so that they can do their own drawings.
Another activity our kids used to love in the rain (they are a bit too old now) is to don wellies and macs and actually be allowed to jump in as many puddles as they liked - you could join in too!
Thanks Fat Bum....The kids will have their ds's and a few games. And I will take laptop with a couple of DVDs. Fortunatly we have had our main holiday in May this is just to test the new tent. I'm hoping it will be a chill week more than anything.
But have looked at some bits to do in the area and weather is looking fair for next week (Rain Friday only) so we should get some good days....
