mmm....well perhaps in some respects this might be "real camping" as the "tents" are usually Yurts or Teepees which have been used for centuries and still used by nomadic peoples over the world??

Also...These nomadic peeps do take their whole home with them...okay its a bit more basic than EHU and the TV (!), but they'll take a stove, maybe a table etc...

And come on...how basic is your camping kit really...? I can only speak for myself, I take a lot of home comforts with me (fridge, double height airbed, tent carpet...etc etc!!)

Hi all
We have discussed, many times why we go camping, and one thing always shows it head, That we are free to do what we like IN OUR OWN UNITS we can put in what we want we can camp were we want and usually in what pitch we want.
The holiday that John as shown us is not really camping, camping is defined as temporary shelter, that is permanently fixed for the duration of the holiday season.
But still better than bricks and mortar in my opinion, you will still see the movement of the canvas and hear the rain beat down on the tent.
All the best.
Rex.

Hi dezzie
The problem with that is the cost of one week in summer will pay for six weeks in my own tent
Regards
Rex.

For the price of a week in one of those you could kit out and buy your own tent and have lots of holidays. I`ll stick with my Vermont, but if they are giving holidays away free in those I won`t say no!

We are campers, but we have also hired cottages and last year stayed in a Yurt as well as camping. We don't take the luxuries that have been mentioned many times before, a coolbox does it for us.  We also had the brochure from Featherdown as we like to try fun and different experiences (hence the Yurt) but found it too pricey, but live and let live I say. We'd like to try a canal boat but they are way too over the top expensive.  It's all about fun experiences within a reasonable cost and camping is still our favourite.  A field to ourselves would be heaven itself .... !

It looks like a Yurt to me. I picked up the Haven brochure last week (dont know why!!!) and they have them on a few sites.

Prices for a week in July/August are about a £1000.

I think it would be fun for a long weekend special but I'd rather go in my new Outwell Colorado 5.

I go into hospital tomorrow so cant camp (or do anything at all) until next spring

Sob sob
