 Tapping the joint with a peg mallet works as well. Also I use car polish on the joints which seems to help prevent it from happening.

We are thinking of buying a Montana 6 oursevles, we dont have the space in our present sent up. Apart from the poles jamming, which we get with our tent, have you had any other problems? What do you think of the tent? We have just come back from 10 days in Weymouth, where the weather was very windy! Some fibre pole tents got damaged, but ours being metal poled like yours survived intacked!

we love out Monty 6 and it is perfect for us- 2 adults and 2 kids..loads of living space and we also have the etxtention which is totally fab! - 

Re the jammed poles, ours does this everytime - especially on the 'bends' to the roof... we wiggle the poles (me holding, hubby wiggling!!) and this works for us!

Montana 6 is a fantastic tent - excellent value for money and really spacious.  We are 2 adults and 2 kids and there is more than enough room for all of us and all our stuff.  Also easy to put up although you do really need two people - look at the video on youtube which is really helpful (better than the Outwell video).  I can honestly say it's the best tent we've ever had - highly recommended!

Will applying heat or cold to affected areas help?

Make the inside pole colder or heat up the outside pole a bit might help to spearate them...

We also have this issue sometimes due to the fact the poles are shaped to fit into each other, therefore if they get twisted taking down, they will wedge a bit.

The Montana is a brilliant tent, but we had a similar problem with the poles. The type of pole we had originally was the type with three flat and one round side. We found that the poles used to turn in the joints and jam tight. I complained to our supplier and they exchanged my tent for a new one with square ended poles with rubber inserts. We haven't had a problem since.

We had the same problems with the Monty 6 and used WD40 but only once the poles were removed from the tent and then thooughly wiped down and it works everytime. Just some more wonderful advice I gleaned from this website.

With regards to the Monty 6 I spent quite a while humming and ahhing but again reading the reviews here made me realise it seemed like a good tent and worth the money. We were hit by strong winds and heavy rain in Wales in August and not a drop came in and with a heater on we were as snug as a bug. The Monty 6 is definitely "glamping" A word of caution though if you've seen the you tube video of one man putting it up in 8 mins 52 secs think again! I'm thinking of posting my very own you tube video of me, my OH and daughter trying to pitch it taking 1 hour 15 mins lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Peggy, you'll get better at it! The two of us have now got it down to 20 mins.

Absolutley agree with you, ours stood up to the wind and continuous rain for a full week, bone dry inside, best tent we've had!

Just a word of caution, some fabrics can be affected by lubricants and sprays, it might be a good idea to check this out with your supplier.

Totaly agree, we put ours up in a "Highland Shower" thanks to a bit off practice and the u tube video !! We had the same issue with poles jamming so i keep 2 pairs off mole grips in the camping kit, as for the tent it withstood all the wind and rain the highlands could throw at it for 2 weeks and was dry as a bone and very comfy.

Although we did see a bear lake and were very impresed
