We are off to Barmouth tomorrow and according to the weather forcasts we can expect around 25 mph winds. We will be putting up a vango killington 900 and we ( wife and me ) have never put it up in the wind !! . do we peg it down a little before raising from the ground?  Have to say we are a little apprehensive to say the least.

the rain dont bother us but wind, thats another story . Any tips from anyone much appreciated .

find wich way wind is blowing and start from that end of the tent. peg down a corner or 2 that end soo that the wind dont blow it away when you start putting up or flip it over do this before you even start sliding poles in just incase. it is a little harder in the wind but you shol dbe fin :)

We are going to be putting up a brand new tent tomorrow .. and are like you very concerned about the weather .. We are going to Slimbridge in Gloucestershire ..

This camping marlarky seemed a really good idea at the time .. sitting here watching the rain pour I am beginning to think we are mad!!

It was my first time camping last weekend and I was like you!! very concerned and wasn't looking forward to it at all.
I have to say I was really surprised that I loved it.
The weather was crappy, but we still enjoyed ourselves and I cant wait to do it again.
Just go with an open mind and make the best of any situation and you will love it.

I do hope the op got the tent up ok and they are now tucked up in the shelter of the tent

we live about 20 miles south of barmouth as the crow flies and it has been very blustery all day, not sure what the wind speeds were but I wouldnt want to be putting up a big tent in this weather
