We bought the 4/6 birth tent at Aldi recently - we have put it up in the garden and it seems ok. We also bought a very reasonably priced dome from tchibo for our sons to sleep in - this is also an adventuridge one and seems good too. But now I am getting cold feet!  We are planning to do a family trip at the end of the holidays meanwhile I am going to cub camp and the weather forecast is not looking good. Does anyone have experience of camping in these kind of budget tents in bad weather?

if you are not 100% sure about the aldi tent just return it for a no quible refund,we returned our son last year from aldi, the reason was the sewing on the zip was comming away, but the tent was fine for the 14 nights he used it in cornwall.

Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.

we have one, camped at the end of June in it. we had a heavy overnight thunder storm on our last night all we got was a slight drip from the overhead skylights top seam, soon cured by a little seam sealer. (eh some Outwells leak so very happy with this tent) the HH is 4000.

have used an aldi tent in the past & this stood up to heavy rain, only problem with these tents is the zips & some on the stiching that is done around door entrance etc, but depending on how many times you are planning to use the tent to me they are value for the price you pay

Thanks tha makes me feel a bit better - I think I'll give it a go. I'm not too worried about longterm problems with the zips - if the family weekend goes ok (ie convice my husband its fun!) then we will look at other tents for next year, Meanwhile perhaps i should take some seam sealant with me next week?

Hi all.

I decided to give up on all these extremely heavy, awkward and expensive tents and go for a cheap and cheerful Aldi tent, Its very similar to the vango aspen, its been up in the garden for over 2 weeks in gail force winds and heavy rain and it never leaked once, its 500mm waterproofing when some of the more superior tents are only 300mm. the only thing that annoyed me was that I paid £79 for it and less than a week later it was reduced to £59, and could I find the reciept anywhere.

some people got a very good sized managible tent for very little money..

The real test will be when we go on our 10 day camping trip at the weekend.
