Moving on from cooking in tents is it safe to have gas lights? We are going camping in October and were told to get a few of these but surely the dangers are the same as cooking with a sig.

How do you check with soapy water?   I have several gas lamps and on all of them the seal is inaccessible when the canister is installed, so it will be a great help if you can explain the method of checking.

Thanks for the info, we dont really want to use EHU as those pitches are all close together and we want to pitch away from everyone else. I'm beginning to think we are slightly nuts going camping in October but it should be fun!

As I said, Rex, the seal is inaccessible.  The top of the canister is shrouded by the lamp casing on most Campingaz lamps.

But these days with EHU and low power LED lights Why take the risk of a leaking or a knocked over gas or petrol light

I'm with you there, Rex. Befroe we wetn away this weekend, we had a bit of a sort out and our old gas lamp is about to be posted on freecycle.

I also find them dead fiddly to use and it can be hard to find the right mantle when they go.
