Bought our fat airics about 6 weeks ago and they were on offer at £70 for 2. I had heard on here that the price was due to go up so stepped out in faith that they were good and bought them then. Must say I am soooo pleased with them. First night we tried them at home I couldn't believe how comfy it was. Since then have been away twice and actually sleep better on mine than our bed at home. Not sure how they compare with other brands but would not swop them for anything else now.
Most Alpkit gear is exceptionally good value for money compared to equivalent brands in the outdoor industry. The Fat Airic combined with a Skyehigh 400 bag and Hunka bivy is my perfect outdoor sleeping combination.
Thanks for that. Hubby has insisted that I sell our previous camp beds etc before I buy anything new, so I think I'll sell them on ebay and then treat myself to the fat aircs. (He does have a point, I have 4 campbeds( 2 of 2 different types...all too narrow to sleep on and 2 self inflating mats from Lidl....not comfy.
I looked at some forums elsewhere where they discussed fat airics last year and noticed that they had sold out at about this time last year. But I'll take the risk as we're not going away till September anyway.
What's a Hunka bivy? ...Just had a quick look and see it protects the sleeping bag....does it go over the mat as well or is the mat underneath the bivy?

When I bivvy I have a self-inflating mat inside the bivvy and then a foam-cell mat underneath to protect the bivvy and mat from any objects under the sleeping area, but it's one of those things that's down to personal preference and the area being camped in.
No, the Hunka won't take the Fat Airic (I don't think, haven't tried.
The last time I used the combination, I was chased out of a tent by an ants nest, so I just put the Airic on the ground. I've got some Goretex lying around so I may make an airic bag over the winter.
I got the Humka to make sure the Skyehigh stayed dry. Goose Down loses all its insualtion properties when wet.
Mind you, I'm an Alpkit junkie - have a look on the site for the following:
Gourdon
Filo
Lite Stix
Clippers
Spike
Fat Airic
Skyehigh
Gamma
