Hi

We have recently been camping in our new Vango Zambezi (brand new) and it leaked from most of the toggle points although the seams were fine. We purchased this tent as it rated as 5000hh but ours doesn't seem to fit the bill.

Also one of the brow poles for the rh doorway shattered whilst errecting the tent and all of the others seemed a bit to big. The rear brow poles above the bedroom vaents fitted fine on the one side but there wasn't anywhere to slot the other in to.

Has anyone had similar problems or can offer advice? We had coped with a cheapy argos tent for a couple of years and bought this tent for its spec thinking it would last!

Thank you.

How long hhave you had it ?It says on the T+C on the page someting about 7 days.I would argue with them that 1 a brand new tent should not leak and 2 there is a question of quality as there was no where to put in winbow brow poles.Good luck.Someone else may be along to help too

Hopefully they'll do the right thing. Internet sites are not absented from your statutory rights.

HH refers to the material only. If it's stitched together poorly you'll still get a leak.

I'm amazed that quality manufacturers don't seem to have a handle on quality control.

Just to ask you there are no buckle straps where you put the pin into the pole or these straps were fully extended? this would slacken off the ' poles seem to long' in all fainess the toggle points could be seam sealed but 'A new tent shouldnt leek' .The shattered pole cold be replaced. BUT if there is no where to put the window brow poles there is your main problem. You may be able to get help off your credit card people too. There are lots of threads on here about leaky tents and issues like this under 'outwell nebraska' Have a search and get some ammo  behind you and best of luck

Hi Hairywol.
QA and QC are not relative with cheap tents, they are made in foreign climes by poorly paid workers and it is cheaper to replace the tent than to set up and run a QC dept in these countries.
So on these type of tents they will normally replace the tent if it is defective, but hard luck if your expensive holiday was spoilt.
Cabanon make their own in France, most Dutch firms also,
I am not sure about Relum they seem to have a few cheap tents amongst their good ones now.
We have just got to live with it if we require cheap tents made with acceptable material.
Rex.

sorry to disagree rex but i just can not imagine a company like vango, not having a quality control dept. in this day and age there is not many companies (for all products) world wide, that will survive without a quality dept. as manufacturing is now such a competitive area. in fact i am willing to bet that vango, like all other reputable tent manufactures will have a qc qa dept. what i will not bet on, is how good their qc qa dept is.

vango tend to have very good customer service and do the right thing by their customer once a complaint has been highlighted

but I am not sure how good the quality control is because they launched a new tent last year called the killington and shortly after launch they told the dealers to stop selling them and recalled all the ones that had been sold, because most if not all of them leaked how did this little slip up get past quality control?
