All week me and my daughter have been planning our first camping trip, and day after day its rained on our parade.  However, after much consideration I've decided that the risk of camping in the wet far outweighs the disappointment I'd feel by not going - so I've confirmed a booking for Golden Square in Helmsley - they have sent me email confirmation to say the site "is not a mud bath" and we are in the overflow field which is more raised and so better for drainage?!.

So I've just bought the tarpaulin to go underneath our tent and will be saying a prayer that the rain doesn't return until the tent is up at least.  Only issue is I haven't had chance to check the tent yet as the weather where I live has been shocking - worst case scenario we put it up, it leaks - we repair the leak or take it down again...I can deal with that.

Not gonna be held hostage by the British weather!

Can't wait now.

You do right! Don't let the weather ruin your trip.

I'm off to Skipsea tomorrow and can't wait. I know its going to rain, but I'd rather be sat in a tent in the rain than sat at my desk at work in the dry lol

Hope it stays dry for you and you have a great time

Ben

We had to do the same....go off for our holiday with an untested tent with rain forcast. The rain was not as bad as the forcasts had said... and the tent was fantastic!  We had one really torential down pour but stayed cosy and dry.

Doing it again on monday as I got a small tent for me and the kids to use (well our family tent takes up half the boot)....... I am banning myself from anymore camping gear shops for 12 months lol!..............................................

..........................step away from the sales
