I've just received this and noticed that there are two tiny holes in it.

I bought it from Ebay (I know, I know!!) and it was brand new with all tags attached. My question is this... The holes aren't in a part of the canopy that bears any strain and one of them is on the part that goes over the roof of my tent, what should I do?

Repair holes (and with what?)

Try to get a new canopy from ebay seller (with postage charges for returning it!)

Speak to Vango?

Put up with holes as they really are tiny?

Hi Funkdelia.
I would photo the defective holes in the canopy and if the tent was bought as new contact the seller and ask for a replacement at his expense,or compensation for the defective canopy and say that you will have it repaired.
If they offer you a decent sum of compensation.
Then go Here and purchase A packet of Tenacious Repair Pre Cut Patches and also a tube of McNet Seal Grip. Follow the instructions on applying the seal grip with the patches, and when the patches are removed the holes will be gone.If the holes are more than 2 mm leave the patches on you will not se them without serching for them.
All the best
Rex.

Thanks Rex, I think I might just do that. Can I use the patches that came with the canopy?

I've seen lots of posts on these canopies and in particular someone looking for pictures of it attached to a VV500

Here's mine in my garden! I think I might need to do some fine tuning as its not quite right yet!

Hi again.
I am not sure how good the patches you have, but it is well documented that the Tenacious patches are the best for permanent repairs.
Regards
Rex.

Hi Funkydelia, I love what you've done to your place-just looked at your pics! I have had my VV500 for a couple of years and only  found out today that there is such a thing as a sun canopy-now I want one! Anyway, have tried to find out if a canopy fits a VV500 an you've answered my question, thanks. However, I've seen one on Ebay and am on two minds now I've read your post re holes.

I'm putting it down to experience. The holes really are tiny and it was very cheap!

I did have to cut the elastic to stop the roof bowing.

I know what you mean. The canopy I've seen is green and my VV500 is blue!  Oh well, hope all goes well for your weekend.

I bought one from the same e-bay site as above and mine has no holes and is light blue.  just make sure you get the large canopy and not the much smaller sun conopy!

Hi.. Im under the impression vango have had a bad batch of canopies this year.. I have just received my 3rd vango tunnel canopy from winfield all 3 have had tiny holes in... Im going to have to keep this 1 and repair with the tenacious (sp) tape which isnt on really but i need it as were going away tomorrow... Winfields have apologised and said i can have a full refund, but i cant find another anywhere and as i said i need it for next week.

Have been advised to wait untill the next batch are in the shops...

That's really interesting actually. I decided to live with the one I've got too. Just wish I could actually take it somewhere other than my back garden!

Thanks for the pics - at least I can now see how you have attached it to your tent (i.e. to the dome poles). we have the large canopy on our VV500, no holes but the only problem we have had is it keeps blowing off the tent, we've now bought some pole pegs (the ones shaped to fit round a pole for your washing) from Go Outdoors, they don't look brilliant but does the job.  We put our table and cooker under it with a windbreak at the end of it - really gives you so much extra space to sit.

I can add my endosement to the excellent capabilities of tenacious tape.  Our tent was up in the garden and a local moggie decided that the top of it it would make a good place to watch the world go by; the damage was awful, a foot long tear and a number of small holes running up one wall.  Tenacious tape was recommended by everyone I spoke to so I got some and applied it to both sides of the damaged areas.  The tape did a fantastic job; it's brilliant.
